Verse for the day

Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

I'll be alright...it just hurts.....

I'm going out on a limb here and sharing a little sadness. Not pain really, but a sad side to my life. I got Sarah ready for bed tonight. She did really well trying to get her PJs on herself. Its was nice to work on things together....then I asked for a kiss and instead got a head-butt which split my lip and left me bleeding profusely. She didn't mean to do it, really. She just doesn't have control over her body like we do and doesn't always even understand what she's doing. But she knew she hurt me and seemed to feel bed. She was blowing me kisses from her bed as I exited her room. Sandor sent ice up with Andrew, but when Andrew saw me crying and the bloody washcloth he was surprised and said, "You're bleeding!" To which I replied, "I'll be alright, it just hurts." He left and I cried harder realizing...it hurts on multiple levels. Physically and emotionally. But truly, I'll be alright.....it just hurts. And, thankfully, I've learned the hurting doesn't last forever.

A Quote Worth Sharing

Timothy said today, "Mom's cookies are best...you know, because they are made especially by moms."

Beach Weekend

As a last hurrah for the summer we took the kids to Lake Michigan. We drove to Holland, MI and tried to go to Holland State Park the first day...but arriving at lunch time we found the park full and literally could not get to the beach. So we headed off to another beach/park nearby called Tunnel Park. We were able to get in and headed to the sand and surf for a picnic lunch and fun. After cooking ourselves well we headed to a hotel and cleaned up. Then we sought out dinner and found very places in Holland are open for dinner on Sunday evenings...hmmm....what to do? We ended up enjoying a very nice dinner at a local place on the water, can't remember the name, in Saugatuck. Monday early we headed out to Holland State Park....which was much less crowded at 8:30 AM. We enjoyed several more hours of cooking and playing and then headed back to the hotel for a final clean up....they were so gracious to give us a late check out of 2 PM. We wrapped things up with a visit to Craig's Cruisers for go-carts and putt-putt. All in all it made for a fun "beach weekend". Hope you like the pics.

So, now what?

Ever feel that way? School is done, sort of, so now I have all this time that I was spending on school.....what to do?
Oh, really I know....spend more time with my kids...their summer vacation is slowly winding down, actually clean my house really good, read a good book, etc. etc. I have to fill out whatever paperwork I need to renew my certificate, but, my 9 credits are done. Its been a long haul and I am glad its done. Fall is lookin' mighty nice to me!!

I would love to be uploading the wonderful pictures we took this weekend at Lake Michigan, but alas, our camera is broken. Sandor did take it right in, though. And we bought the extended service agreement so its just waiting for the repair job and then I can share the delightful little video I took of my Sarah dancing in the waves, squealing and clapping with joy....assuming I can actually upload the video....I've been having trouble posting the videos I have so we'll see.

For now I am heading out to run. Maybe some walking...the leg will decide. I have a very sore muscle so I'm not sure what it can handle and am trying to be smart about avoiding injuring.

I guess that answered my, now what? question....

Our MWS Friend

This weekend we met another child with Mowat-Wilson Syndrome. This is the first child, other than our daughter, we have ever met or seen in person who shares this disorder. It was very interesting. We met Austin and his Mom at park in Lansing and his Dad joined a little later it was nice to spend time talking about the kids and comparing them, noting similarities and differences. Its sad to share a common bond like this but great to know you are not alone on the journey. The two were very similar in appearance and could pass for cousins. It was funny some of the quirky things the two share...for example, both like to snack and would prefer to eat right from the package. For example you can give either child a portion in a bowl and they would still prefer to eat it from the bag or box...strange but kind of interesting.....
