Lessons from a treadmill
Its funny the things you learn in weird places. For example, I recently bought a treadmill. I enjoy jogging outside but don't like to do it in the winter when its cold and I would rather be cozy in the house. Or when its rainy, other than a refreshingly light sprinkle, its really not fun to be out jogging. So I figured I would get this apparatus and that way I can jog all year round. Same thing, right? NO. Not the same thing!
First lesson is just because you like to jog outside doesn't automatically mean you will enjoy jogging on a treadmill. (But...it might grow on you so you sort of like it.)
Second lesson. Its very important to put the key clip on your clothes because if you fly off the end of the treadmill you DO want it to stop. This is important even for those of us who consider themselves pretty well coordinated.
Third lesson. Your ipod will not play music if its not turned on. Hmm?
Fourth lesson. A treadmill is cool because you can measure how far and how fast you are jogging.
Fifth lesson. You can memorize new scriptures on a treadmill (which you cannot do while jogging outside unless you can carry your Bible and read it at the same time while jogging or have it recorded.)
Sixth lesson. Kids (big ones) like to run on your treadmill and think its fun and will get some good exercise that way.
Seventh lesson. My heart rate is around 180 bpm while running 6.5 mph.
Eighth lesson. You sweat way more jogging inside than outside.
Ninth lesson Just like other exercise I feel good when I am done and I am really glad I did it.
Happy jogging!
