Don't Cry Over....a Broken Ketchup Bottle

Timothy LOVES chicken nuggets with "ketchup to dip" He would eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Today I was making them for lunch for him and he wanted to help. So he got out the ketchup and was carrying it around the kitchen as he got other items for his lunch--goldfish crackers, etc. Then it happened. The almost full--2 pound--bottle slipped out from his arms. Its plastic so that's good but it broke anyway and well, ketchup disaster! He felt really bad. I did too but not about the broken bottle or the mess to clean up but that now I have to go buy more... Oh well. If that's the worst of my day, yippee!

And for your viewing pleasure.... We ordered Buca to go for dinner. This is how Sarah looked after she enjoyed chicken parmesan, spaghetti and chocolate cake. Mmm, mmm, good! Timothy likes "Farmesan" cheese on his spaghetti, by the way.

And a note of THANKS!

I do not want to forget to thank those of you who were and ARE praying for us during our tough challenges. It is such a blessing. My dear Dad! Thanks for spending hours with me at the hospital when you could have been enjoying Andiamos with your coworkers. Thanks for holding Sarah in your arms while she finally slept. Thanks for driving us home in the thickest fog I have ever seen and for missing valuable sleep. You never stop being "Dad". Thanks Mom for rushing right out to support me at the hospital till Dad could get there. I know you were already exhausted but you came anyway--that's such a "mom" thing to do. And I really appreciated it. Thanks Sarah--my sis--for spending the day with me yesterday. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks Mom and Dad Piszar for checking in often to see how your little sweetie was progressing and for the offers to help. Thank you for a delicious meal!! Mmmm. You are a blessing! To all the rest of you, thank you, thank you! To my Heavenly Father, thanks for this challenge and the lessons it brings. Thank you for Sarah. That you trusted her to US is awesome! Last, but definately not least, Sandor. Your faith in my capabilities to care for our Sarah keeps me strong. It is a JOY to share this journey with YOU!

A Perfect Gift

Its been busy and active in our house. Sarah had a general tonic clonic seizure (more commonly known as grand mal) Tuesday evening. I think this one is tied for worst place with the one that started us down the seizure path. In general her seizures don't "throw" me and I feel we manage them well. Usually they are a partial complex seizure which when we give meds she comes out of quickly. But this one was troublesome. First of all to see her physically overtaken was surprising because her seizures don't usually present that way. And immediately she was having trouble breathing. We gave the meds to stop the seizure after 4 minutes but they had no effect. So after 3 more minutes we called EMS. That's close to our protocol and we will either get instructions to administer another dose and they will need to come observe her or they will need to come and transport her. Well...while we were on the phone her respirations got worse and her lips became purple and she really wasn't breathing anymore. Then she passed out. God gives peace. Its an amazing thing to experience His peace. The paramedic on the phone told me, "Ok Mom we are going to have to help her out here," meaning I was going to need to breath for her. But I was ok with that. That CPR training was going to pay off. Getting her flat and tilting her head back to open her airway was all we needed to do and she was able to breath on her own. The paramedics arrived and definitely wanted to transport her. They dosed her a second time but she continued to seize. We headed out to the hospital and on our way she eventually stopped seizing. The ambulance got lost on the way to the hospital--yes, they actually pulled over and got out a map! They should have had ME drive!! And then once we arrived at the hospital we spent several hours in the ER for them to say--virus. She spiked a temp of 103.3 which set off her seizure. She has a pretty low threshold for that stuff. She was pretty much herself yesterday, a bit more tired than usual and running a low temp. I used it to my advantage to get to cuddle my usually non-stop active girl. And as I cuddled her I could not help but think, "James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." Sarah is imperfect (we ALL are) but as my precious gift from God she is perfect and I cherish her.
