WHOA!!! Wasabi & Soy!!!

I really like almonds. MMM....they are tasty and crunchy and satisfying. A good snack food. They even have protein. I like to dip them in sauce or eat them plain. Well then they came out with these flavored almonds. I have been wanting to try them but have stuck with the old traditional. Lucky me...they were sampling them at Costco yesterday. I tried the one I had be thinking about Wasabi and Soy Sauce. I can't say its my favorite but WOW! Its hot and spicy but in a unique way. It says "Intense Taste!" on the can. Yep. That sums it up. Try some!!

Expanding our......horizon

So today I took Jacob to the orthodotist. Fourth visit in three weeks!! Yikes...crazy. But it is now official. He is in "Phase 1" of orthodotics. He had an expander put in the roof of his mouth. For the next two weeks I will turn it with a little "key" each night and it will gradually expand the roof of his mouth to make room for all his grown up teeth. The hope is that he won't need extractions or at least less extractions. Pretty neat, huh? He was talking funny after but I know he will get used to it quickly. He had a last hurrah...a popcorn feast...last night since he can't eat stuff like that for a while. I think he has enjoyed the little breaks from school he got out of it--and convincing me to drive thru the golden arches for him too!! What a kid!! I just love him. I am so blessed to have him.

Florence Nightgown

A busy, fun time of the day occurs at our house around 4 pm. The boys arrive home from school and are, of course, starved. They sit down in the kitchen and very soon it is full of loud voices talking about the day and eating snacks. Today I had to suppress a laugh. But you are in luck because the conversation left me with this to share with you and hopefully you will get a chuckle out of it.
Andrew was talking fast and furious about the events of the day. In between bites, hmmm...handfuls, of cheeze crackers he asks, "Mom, have you heard the story of Helen Keller?" "Yes, Andrew, I have." "She must have had a miserable life," he said. "Well, I don't think so," I replied. And we discussed briefly before Andrew went on to ask if I had ever heard of "Florence Nightgown?" He went on to share many of the details that Florence Nightingale is known for.
Now did you chuckle?? See what a delightful diddy that was.

Frankenmommy

Hello! Here I am on the other side of surgery. I look like someone slit my throat--oh, well I guess someone did.... The scar is not too bad but bigger than I expected. When Timothy saw it he said, "I don't like that on you." Me either, Tim! They claim it will heal quickly and be pretty unoticable within a year. Surgery went well and we are waiting on a final all clear from the pathology in a week or so. Please pray it will be negative for cancer. I spent one night, unrestful, at the hospital and was home by lunch the next day. Recovery seems to be going well. Just more tired than usual. I guess that's to be expected. Ok--yawn--gotta run.

Going Under the Knife

Hello everyone out there in cyberworld. It has been busy, busy around here. And this week is not the exception. But on the other hand it has been a bit slower than usual. I am in the midst of getting things tidy and prepared for me to be "out of the loop." On Monday I am having a left hemi thyroidectomy. That means I am having the left half of my thyroid removed. Its not that big of a surgery but still surgery. I should come home that day or the next. But the most challenging thing I see (at this point) is that I can't pick up my little ones for two weeks after. That's not too much of a problem with Timothy. He can climb in and out of the car, bed, chairs, you name it. Sarah will need some help. But I thank God that she is as mobile as she is. Perhaps this will help her in her development because she will have to work a bit harder. I am trying to clear my schedule for the two weeks after so I won't have much to do. That's hard with four kids because life just keeps going. I do have help for the first week so that's a big plus. Anyway....please keep me in your prayers, especially for Monday, for peace and calm for me, steady and wise hands for the doctors, and a swift, uncomplicated recovery.
