The faint of heart should be cautious about reading any further. The reality is...the truth in fact...I...I...I....reached the bottom of the laundry basket. Its unbelievable. I know. I can't even believe it myself. But by the end of the day it will be full again......

An Assortment of Information
I ran the full 5 miles on Sunday afternoon. It was awesome. Exhausting but great. Early into it I was doing really well and thinking to myself, "Wow. This is good." And it was in spite of a rather big lunch a few hours earlier. I was running along with no trouble. When I headed home the reality became clear. I had been running with the wind--you would think I would have noticed--NOW I was running against the wind and into the sun and hadn't worn my hat. Thankfully the winds weren't really too strong but the patches of shade I ran through were a welcome retreat. Andrew was at the park when I was coming back into our neighborhood and it is always so encouraging to see a familiar face. So he rode his bike next to me the rest of the way home. It was a good feeling of accomplishment and I feel confident now I can make it through the "Legend" although it will likely be harder since its a trail run. Now...you would think I would have lost weight doing all this running...3 measly pounds and holding! Talk about frustrating! I was really hoping for that bonus! I get the whole calories in vs. out but its just not happening for me. I read last night you burn approx. 100 cals per mile. And I know muscle weighs more than fat and I know I have built up some but still......oh well....
Now my Sarah....patching is going very well! She leaves it alone and really the difficulty comes in taking it off, she cries and cries. So sad! Also her skin is a bit irritated by it so we have to put liquid maalox on and let it dry and then put the patch on. I guess it creates a barrier but still sticks. It seems to be working. The trowing continues to be an issue. Actually the patching has helped with this a bit since it seems to slow her down. And she is wearing a Bear Hug vest when she starts to get overly hyper. We've used this before with her teachers at school and so I went ahead and bought one because we need one here at home and it seems to be helping.
I have one final tidbit which I hope will make you chuckle. Last week my sister Sarah was over visiting. Andrew came into the room and asked if he could water my plants and vacuum for some extra video game time. I said, "No. But you can do those things anyway." He smacked his forehead and said, "I'm a FOOL!" We could hardly contain our laughter. And Andrew did the jobs....Thanks sweetie!!

Please pray for my little Sarah
Things have been interesting for Sarah these days. She is much more hyperactive than usual (and than I would like) and is doing a LOT of throwing of objects....how to channel this energy....its a quandry???
Today she saw the eye Doctor. Sandor and I requested this appointment seeing a lot more crossing than usual. And we were right on (no applause please this is our job as parents to be observant) the crossing has become worse AND the Dr. was also able to nail down another technique Sarah is using to improve her functional vision. Those of you who are around her often may have noticed that she frequently tips her head up. When she does this her eyes are higher than what she wants to look at and when she looks down at it she has better control with her muscles and is able to look at things straight. Interesting....on so many levels....I find it fascinating that she would develop this method of correcting a problem...and its good to know so that we can help her. The Dr. also pointed out that Sarah will need surgery to correct the crossing (and this had been discussed earlier with her previous Dr.) but just not yet. The trouble is this surgery is not all that successful with kids having to have it more than once in many cases......
For now we are patching. Alternating eyes each day. We will see how it goes and are hopeful we won't have to splint her arms to keep her from peeling the patches off. Time will tell.
So please pray for my little Sarah. That she would be compliant with the patching and that it would yield good results. And for that hyperactivity....that she would slow down and that her mother would not progress further down the road to insanity (just kidding about that part!)
Thanks!!

Run Heather....Run
So I am sort of "training" for a run. I've done a couple 5Ks and really enjoyed them. And I enjoy running so when I heard about the "Legend" http://runlegend.com I decided I wanted to do it. Its a 5 mile run in August. A trail run which is cool because of its very nature.
I run a couple times a week and sometimes that doesn't even happen but last week I was able to run almost every day since Sandor was home from work. It was fabulous. I've began pushing myself at the end of the week and am getting closer to that 5 mile point. (Which will be my farthest run to date.) I got 4.5 miles in tonight. Pretty cool.....I'll keep you posted on my progress.....

And so the potty training goes.....
Okay Blog readers. We are doing it! Sarah's training is in full swing and we had only ONE accident yesterday. Yippee! Pray that I would be diligent and not lazy as her training goes a bit beyond the norm and is more a schedule training than a sensation training (although in time it may become that). Pray that we would all be consistent with Sarah and that she would get the concept we are trying to teach. This may sound like something trivial to pray about but from where I stand there is very little involved in the care of a special needs child that doesn't need to be prayed about. Thanks dear ones!
