Frogs

I really enjoy spring on my street for many reasons but a favorite sound I listen for that confirms spring's coming is the croaking of the frogs--or they may be toads. Its so loud and obnoxious but I just love it. People who don't recognize the sound often ask what it is with a wrinkled up nose. Its just a wonderful sound to me. We live across the street from a "green space." That translates to about 2 undeveloped lots on our court that have been left natural. Its really pretty even if part of it is a wet land area. There is a woody part further behind the wet area that Jacob has been adventurous enough to explore. The toads are calling each other today. I can hear them in my house---with all the doors and windows closed and my radio on---and very soon there will be eggs and then tadpoles for my kids to watch with wonder. God's creation is so wonderful and far too amazing for anyone to truly write off as coincidence. What a pleasure it is to get to share it!

Lunch

I just enjoyed one of my favorite lunches.

Whole wheat pita smeared with garlic and chive hummus, topped with cucumbers and sharp cheese.

Yummy!

Snow pics

Spontaneous Fun

Today I had planned to take my kids to the zoo. We haven't been in quite some time and the big boys had the day off of school. The weather had other plans for us...there was a snow storm this morning. It ended around 10 am and as I looked out at our snow covered streets I thought....it would be fun to go sledding. So we did.

Very spontaneous. We threw the toboggan and the sleds into the truck and got all bundled up and headed to a nearby hill. There was hardly anyone else there. We spent about an hour and then came home for the required hot chocolate.

I had such a great time watching the kids have fun. I even went down a few times. Sarah didn't like the spray of snow in her face so she only took two trips down the hill. All in all it made for a great morning and I got some good pictures....who could complain!!
