Getting Recharged

Well here I am in St. Louis, MO relaxing and spending time with family, having fun, taking spontaneous naps (unheard of in my real life) staying up late and sleeping in, I've had two fab jogs and am reading to my heart's content. Its been supreme. But this is all at the expense of my dear sisters Laura and Mel, the later who has it hardest. Thanks girls! I really needed it and feel so recharged. I have heard that my sweet Sarah is giving Mel a lot of grief so that's put a bit of a dampener on things. I am sorry Mel! Dear blog readers you know enough to know that not just anyone can take my Sarah for the weekend and it appears she decided to test the limits with Mel this weekend. I owe you a coffee when I get home at the VERY least Mel. Hang in there I will be back by lunch tomorrow. Thanks so much!! The four munchkins have a well charged Mommy...just right for starting the summer off.

Please pray for Sean

My niece, Lara, shared a prayer request with me last night about a friend, Sean.
Here is her request:

Last wed. on his way to school Sean was in a really bad car accident and his skull got shattered. He had multiple surgeries and is currently unconscious. The doctors keep saying that it is not looking good for him. So many people in St. Louis have heard about him and he has many people praying for him to get better. If you could please tell anyone and everyone about Sean and pray for him also. We are all counting on a miracle to help save him. Thanks.

Dear Blog readers, I am passing this on to you and asking you to bring this situation before the Lord--as I know many of you have a personal relationship with Christ. Please pray for Sean, wisdom for the doctors, for his family and the community of young people that are affected by this seemingly unbearable tragedy. Pray that those who do not know Christ would be draw to Him. Please pray for his family as the immediate future will likely be very difficult.

Keep Your Eyes Peeled

Last night it was very dark by the time we pulled into the subdivision. I said to the kids, who were all still awake, "Keep your eyes peeled for raccoons." Immediately Timothy replied, "How do you peel 'em?"

Memorable Scents

Isn't it interesting how scents are often associated with fond memories? Yesterday as I walked up to the door of the house at almost 10 pm it smelled SO good outside...like camping...mmmm...

Today I am revelling in the smell of my daughter who smells like nilla wafers and yogurt. No perfume could smell as sweet.

Out for a RIDE!!

Our Timothy is now the owner of a "new" (used to be Andrew's) big boy bike.

He had fun trying it out yesterday.

Helping Out

Girls! Do you remember "helping" your Dad with a project? I do! Of course more often than not it was usually watching rather than helping or handing the occasional tool to my Dad who was under a car or in a tight spot. Still I loved "helping" with projects. More often than not I think, if memory serves, those projects he was working on were for ME. So it was even more meaningful. But MANY times I remember watching my Dad help someone else--he's just that kind of guy. Well, I had the privilege of seeing Sarah "help" Sandor with a project yesterday. It was just delightful to see her watching every detail of what he was doing---which was putting training wheels on a bike for Timothy. It was great to see how calmly she sat and attended and never grabbed at the tools but rather kept her hands in her lap. Precious!

Thoughts about my Sarah

Here is something my sister Sarah wrote to me about my daughter Sarah:

It is neat to see how everyone says that kids with MWS are all so happy. Sarah is a constant reminder to me about how the important parts of life are enjoyed by EVERYONE (and sometimes those with disabilities seem to so often be better at it) - being with those we love and loving and serving one another! So often I let myself get distracted from those simple pleasures and let myself get stressed over things that are really nothings. God created us to be happy and so often the reason I am not as happy as I could be is because I don't look for happiness where God put it. She helps to remind me that.

Thanks you (sister) Sarah for sharing those thoughts with me. And for letting me share them here as well. It is wonderful to know that my child has an impact on others and in a positive way.
