Further details....

My Grams called this week to give me some history on the Meinzinger bookcase. It was so interesting to hear the details from her! As she explained (and correct me on my errors Grams).....in the 1950s the expressway was built into Detroit. At that time Meinzinger Art School was on Woodward Ave. As the houses on Second Street were torn down for the expressway my Grandfather would go and watch the large homes being removed. These were homes very wealthy people had lived in who had now moved away, probably built around the 1920s. The fronts came from the Butler's pantry of one of the homes. Grandfather bought the 2 along with drawers. They were originally built into the wall of the Butler's pantry and the glassware was kept in the cabinets and the linens kept in the drawers. Grandfather put the cabinets and drawers in the house in South Rockwood.
